Brown Honors Scholarship Luncheon.   Last Wednesday, Edinboro Dining began collecting funds from university students, faculty and staff to help in Edinboro University foreign aid. On March 11, a massive 9.0-magnitude earthquake occurred near the northeastern coast of Japan, creating extremely destructive tsunami waves which hit Japan just minutes after the earthquake.

Students, faculty, staff gather in protest of state education budget

A crowd of hundreds gathered at Baron-Forness Library Tuesday to voice their displeasure with Gov. Tom Corbett's proposed budget which would drastically cut education funding. The rally, organized by Edinboro's Sociology Club, drew an estimated 500 demonstrators, according to authorities at the scene.

  Does Gov.Tom Corbett really care about the educational opportunities for Pennsylvania students of the college level or the K-12 level? Well, he claims to care. According to his website, Corbett believes "every child in Pennsylvania, regardless of their zip code or economic status should have access to the best education possible.

  On January 7, 2011, Rep. Mike Pence re-introduced an amendment to Title X of the Public Health Service Act to prohibit family planning grants from being given to clinics that perform abortions. Year in review: Wrestlers scuffle

It was a tough season for the Edinboro wrestling team. The Fighting Scots had to deal with adversity both on and off the mat in what redshirt-sophomore heavyweight Ernest James described as a "rebuilding year." Still, the wrestlers used that adversity in a positive way to bring themselves closer to one another.

Women’s lacrosse ties season record

Nine players scored goals as Edinboro's women's lacrosse matched its all-time season record for wins on Sunday, March 20, with a 15-2 win at Urbana.  The Fighting Scots snapped a two-match losing skid, both to nationally-ranked opponents, and are now 3-2 on the young season.

Scots sizzle through Salem, sweep Sunday

The Edinboro softball team ended up winning four of five games in the Salem Tournament thanks to a sweep of its two games on Sunday, March 20.  The Fighting Scots received solid pitching while defeating Seton Hill 3-1 and Ohio Valley 9-1 in six innings.

It is midway through a high school cross-country race in Ohio, and Akron-Saint Vincent high school is missing one of its varsity runners.  He started the race with his team members, but now Doug Watts is nowhere to be found. Crouched in the heavily wooded area right beside the course is Watts, grinning as he watches other runners suffering through the long race.

Art Department wary of education budget cuts

As fear of budget cuts loom in the minds of Edinboro students and faculty members at large, those within the art department fear the same repercussions of the proposed 50 percent cut in budget for the State System of High Education. Jim Parlin, Edinboro University Art Department Chair, stressed that "it is not at all clear what Edinboro University's budget for the next academic year will look like.
