Edinboro University named a new Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs on campus July 1.
Before coming to EUP, Phillip E. Ginnetti was the previous Dean of the Beeghly College of Education and a professor for teacher education at Youngstown State University.
"After a national search, Dr. Ginnetti was selected from an outstanding group of candidates," said Amy Neil, Vice President of Communications and Marketing. He brings to Edinboro an impressive academic background as well as a commitment of outreach and partnership development."
As Provost, Ginnetti wants to "build on the excellence" the curriculum now has, to make it better. He wants to help move it to the next level under his supervision.
Ginnetti plans to build on the honors program the university currently has and help with the First Year Experience (FYE) freshman have. He is pleased with what both program leaders have already done and hopes to build on the already formed programs to enhance them.
Alongside the enhancement of already set programs, Ginnetti will be focusing on partnerships with schools and businesses. He also wants to keep the alumni active and engaged with what's going on with the university.
"I want to be very visible on campus, attending as many events as possible," said Ginnetti. However, he will not be in the country from October 24 to November 4 because he is traveling to China to review agreements that have been made.
"In the short time I have known him, I have found his energy to be contagious and his commitment to Edinboro students is undeniable," commented Neil.

Although enrollment is up 300-400 students, Ginnetti has no feel for how the rates will affect the campus, such as parking, but there have been alternative solutions discussed, he said.
