I found this article cuz I'm trying to find a way to motivate my boyfriend and give him a reason to work harder in school, because he just does the minimum amount of work possible to get Cs because that's all you need to graduate. I agree... but you lost me when you mentioned "special interest groups" and Black history month "falling prey to radical activist organizations", which special interest groups are you referring to? and which radical activist organizations are you talking about?

I'm Andy Alm, the (former) student who made that comment about two years ago. You made a good case in this article, and I actually agree with your position on this issue. I am proud of my race and heritage, as I'm sure you are proud of yours. There's nothing wrong with that! But instead of having a separate month for Black History, White History, Women's History, etc., it seems more logical to just try to be more inclusive in the way we teach history in general. I mainly have a problem with Black History Month and other months like it because these campaigns tend to be quickly hijacked by special interest groups who impose their political agenda. When I think about the possible ramifications of a White History Month, I'm sure it too would fall prey to radical activist organizations. I think you would agree. A truthful account of history, without sugar-coating and political correctness is all I ask.

Tommie Gray is a great athlete. I watched Tommie play football on his hands and wrestle at Northside high School in Warner Robins Georgia.

Another promising local athlete at Northside High School freshman Jaque Billingsley just broke his leg at wrestling practice in December 2010. He has been hospitalized for the past 7 weeks (3 different hospitals) and has undergone 11 operations. His leg had to be amputated just below his knee and he is in rehab for the next month at Scottish Rite Hospital in Atlanta Georgia. I sure do wish that Tommie Gray could come home and visit with Jaque.
