Edinboro’s Eclectic Etceteras now offers dinner and extended hours on Friday and Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m.

Owner Renee Thayer-Allison decided to add dinner to the menu after requests from many open mic attendants.

“As much as they liked the regular menu, it really just wasn’t dinner food,” she said.

Each Friday and Saturday there will be a unique dinner stew offering which will change each week.  It will consist of a meat option (pork, beef or chicken) and a vegetarian option.  Each will almost always be served with some sort of salad.

“I decided to do a stew-type thing basically because one of the memories that I have as a college student that I missed most about being at home is a really good home cooked meal,” admitted Thayer-Allison.  “I just felt that the stews would do that.”

Thayer-Allison is creating the recipes herself as she goes along and slow-cooks them all day.  “I’m trying to be very conscientious about the health content of them, too,” she said.

The dinner option menu will be posted on Eclectic Etceteras’ Facebook group by Friday but possibly as early as Thursday.  The menu will be posted on the door of the coffee house as well as inside on Thursday as well.  Each meal will be priced at $5.95.

“It’s hard to eat healthy nowadays, especially when you are on a budget,” said Thayer-Allison.  “And I remember when I was a vegetarian how hard it was to go out to eat with my family or friends because it was like, OK, I get a salad, again.”

Her hope is that everyone who comes in will have an option, no matter what their preferences may be.

The dinner menu, however, is in addition to the lunch menu, not in place of it.  People coming in will still be able to order the usual offerings which consist of chicken salad wraps, loaded hummus, vegetarian soup, sandwiches and veggie wraps.
