Dave Lizewski (played by Aaron Johnson) is a nerdy high-schooler who decides to don a superhero costume and fight crime under the moniker, “Kick-Ass.” He gets mixed up with two other superheroes, Big Daddy (Nicolas Cage) and Hit Girl (Chloe Moretz), who are working to bring down the evil Frank D'Amico (Mark Strong) and his crime organization. Also, Christopher Mintz-Plasse (McLovin’ from “Superbad”) plays D'Amico's son Chris/Red Mist.
The best performance in this movie was definitely by Chloe Moretz as Hit Girl. There seems to be a pattern of young kids in movies saying rated R things (i.e. “Role Models,” “Mystery Team”) for either the shock value or for cheap laughs. Past that, Moretz really played the part well and stole the show with her awesome, ass-kicking scenes.
I have to be honest and say that I was disappointed in Mintz-Plasse's role in this movie. He didn't bring anything new to the table, but that's okay, I can wait. Although, I doubt his next role as the voice of Giuseppe in the upcoming “Marmaduke” movie will win me over. Who the hell is Giuseppe?
Even though Nicholas Cage doesn't have the best track record when it comes to movies, his performance as Big Daddy was definitely the best I have seen from him in a while.
Overall, this movie is awesome. It's not perfect, but I had a great time watching it and would recommend that you and all your friends go see it. Just remember that this isn't a family flick, so think twice about going with the whole family to see it. I highly doubt that your mother would enjoy this movie.
And on a side note, if you haven't seen Roger Ebert's reviews recently, you should check them out because's lost it.

REALLY?! A remake of a movie that came out 3 years ago? I have no respect for you anymore, Roger Ebert.
Anyway, I highly recommend watching “Kick-Ass.” You'll have a good time.
