First Niagara Financial Group Inc. has acquired 57 National City branches in and around Erie, Pittsburgh, and Warren, while also branding ATMs in 95 Sheetz stores in Western Pennsylvania.
The closest First Niagara branch to Edinboro is located in Erie. With the official branding of the local Sheetz in Edinboro, customers will now be provided with a convenient surcharge free ATM transaction.
"First Niagara will provide a wonderful convenience for current and prospective customers in Western Pennsylvania, said J. Lanier Little, executive vice president, consumer banking. "First Niagara branded ATMs are a great example of our commitment to helping customers to save time and money."
There are currently four First Niagara bank branches throughout Erie, along with branded ATMs at two local Sheetz stores. Meadville has branded ATMs at two local Sheetz stores, along with one located in Conneaut Lake.
According to First Niagara's Web site, the bank currently has 136 ATMs and 113 branches throughout upstate New York.
The transition from National City to First Niagara bank was completed on Monday, Sept. 8, 2009. The Web site states that PNC acquired 110 National City branches, while First Niagara purchased 57 National City branches in Western Pennsylvania.
According to First Niagara's Web site, with theses acquired branches, the bank now has around $13.2 billion in assets and provides financial services to people through 170 branches and five regional market centers across upstate New York and western Pennsylvania.
The Kearsarge and Millcreek branches in Erie operate from Monday to Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday opened from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday open form 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday are open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The two other branches in Erie are closed Saturdays.
